I had a great stay at this hotel. The location was fantastic, right next to the train station which was perfect for my early morning start. The staff were friendly and provided excellent service, making me feel very welcome. The room was well equipped with all the basic amenities I needed, and I particularly enjoyed the view of the garden from my window. The breakfast, although not included in the rate, was delicious, especially the perfectly poached eggs.
Noise levels were a bit disruptive.

This hotel is excellently located, right next to the train station in the city center. The staff provided excellent service and the basic amenities in the rooms were great. The rooms themselves had a fantastic view of the Minster and were equipped with accessible facilities. The breakfast had a very welcoming atmosphere and the perfectly poached eggs were a highlight.
our stay was enjoyable with just a few minor issues.

The hotel was fairly clean with attentive and pleasant staff who then blamed his or her higher manager. Everything was very good, stunning and elegant room with very comfy beds. The rate was £ 224. We had a chance to use a steam room and a jacuzzi too. Central location of this boutique venue was a bonus.

My room was beautifully decorated with comfortable bedding. The hotel's central location was perfect for exploring the city and its landmarks. The breakfast spread had a good range of options. I would recommend this hotel.

Welcome drinks at main bar, great service. Not to mention strong wifi! Very central location to everything you want in central York. Near to the centre, the restaurant and most areas.

Fairly clean hotel in a really nice building close enough to the centre as well as convenient for access to the city center. Unbeatable location next to the train station, easy to get around. Again, walking distance to National Railway Museum.

Good breakfast buffet with variety. Some issues with service. Beautiful public rooms. Room had lighting issues and carpet stains. Requested a room change, but encountered more problems in the new room. Enjoyed a nice dinner in the restaurant.

William
The staff were attentive, and we could use wake up calls and ironing free of charge. The location was magnificent, near all interests.
The staff were poorly trained, didn't expect that coming.

The building at Principal York is truly magnificent, exuding a sense of grandeur and elegance that is unmatched in York. As soon as I walked into the hotel, I was taken aback by the stunning decor and attention to detail. The bar area, in particular, was a lovely spot to relax and enjoy a drink with its inviting ambiance.
My stay wasn't without a few hiccups. The room I stayed in had a broken blind, which allowed light to seep through, making it difficult to sleep. The air conditioning control was also faulty, randomly turning on even when switched off, and the loud banging of the broken air vent disturbed my sleep. Additionally, the towel rack in the bathroom kept falling out of the wall, requiring constant readjustment.

The room was stocked & air-conditioned, with a view.
Even though the breakfast itself was enjoyable, it certainly should have been included.
